The purpose of the YEN is to support the student body within the school to focus on ecological sustainability issues and be vocal and active citizens with a charter to:
Strengthen existing environmental clubs/networks that may already be established in schools
Present youth perspectives to adults and decision makers
Encourage young people to take leadership initiatives for ecological sustainabilityoutcomes
Contribute to the establishment of a state and regional YEN
The student forums will also support students and school communities to implement theSydney Region Climate Change Protocolsigned off by 23 high schools in Sydney Region in 2007. Another Climate Change Forum is planned for 2008.
